Las Etíopes, nestled in the mountains of Jaén within the village of El Porvenir, is the brainchild of UK expatriate Simon Brown and his wife Merlith Cruz. Spanning eight hectares, this farm comprises a diverse landscape, with one hectare dedicated to the cultivation of Ethiopian Heirlooms and Geisha, while another thrives with traditional varieties like Borbón, Caturra and Catimor. Simon started his venture in 2019, driven by the promise he observed in the region's terroir during numerous harvest seasons spent in Jaén.
This lot is a beautiful example of a natural Gesha. Expect an intensely perfumed floral aroma – think jasmine and lavender, with bright citrus acidity balanced by stone fruit sweetness. It’s truly delicious.
Green tip refers to a certain variation of the classic Gesha varietal. The leaves are pure green rather than tinted like the bronze tip Gesha. In general, we find the green tip to be higher quality, with more acidity and floral aromas.
