Galo and Alexandra Morales, a husband-and-wife team, have established themselves as prominent coffee producers in Ecuador. Their consistent success in national coffee competitions, including a 1st place in the prestigious Taza Dorada ("Golden Cup") in 2021 and a 2nd place in 2022, along with 3rd place finishes in the Cup of Excellence in both 2022 and 2023, attests to their expertise.
Among the varieties they cultivate are Sydra and Mejorado. Showcased in this lot as a blend. Both varieties have been confirmed by DNA testing to be an Ethiopian landrace. Ethiopia is recognised as the birthplace of coffee and boasts unparalleled genetic diversity, with over 60 distinct varieties. The journey of these Ethiopian varieties to other coffee-growing regions is a subject of ongoing research.
